It is very important for a new poker player to realize what makes a good poker player and more importantly, how to spot him. If you can spot the good player, you will have an advantage over him. Signs of a good poker player: 1) He Plays Tight: It’s the first sign that someone is educated about the starting hands of poker. Because I play so much shorthanded, I think that playing too tight is a problem for some players, especially the ones that don’t use the image they have created with their tight play. I play some shorthanded players who have little chance of winning at all due to this single problem. So what used to be a key to winning 10 handed Hold’em is now the reason they have no chance of winning shorthanded. …Interesting point to ponder… 2) He plays aggressive: You just can’t be successful in poker without being selectively aggressive. This is even more true shorthanded. When he’s in a pot, he bets it aggressively. Tight to get into the pot, aggressive once he is in the pot. 3) Varies his speed of play: Some decisions take longer than others....

There are quite an overwhelming number of online casino review sites out there. Each online casino reviewer gives you his or her assessment of the torrent of online casinos courting your participation. In this article, we will use our own online casino review template as an example to detail what you’ll want to look for when trying to find the right online casino for you. Bonuses/Promotions In this section of the online casino review you’ll discover what the signup bonus is at that site — typically matching a certain percent of your first deposit — as well as any other bonuses available at the online casino. Re-deposit bonuses are also popular, whereby the online casino matches a percentage of select future deposits (say, once a month, your first deposit of that month). Bonuses may be game-specific or day-specific. They may offer cash prizes or free game tokens. A particularly appealing type of bonus is the Progressive Jackpot, which starts out at a particular level (say, $500), but as each day passes without anyone qualifying to win the jackpot, an additional amount...

The new Richard Roper book, called ‘Bet The House’ is the story of a gambling man who bets $1000 every day for thirty days. True gambling experts who have read this novel state that it does not dig deep enough into the true nature of the sport, as large sections of content are simply skipped out in order to create a more interesting read for the novice gambling reader. This book also highlights the dangers of the high-level players who make gambling a living. The book chronicles the tales of one man’s addictions and the lengths that he will go in order to purge the addiction from his body. Richard knows of people who gamble to make their rent every month, he knows of those who believe that their gambling money is a ‘sure thing’ and he knows what it is to be up at 4am in the morning at the blackjack table, playing cards to secure some money for food. This is an interesting read for those who want to read about the other side of gambling, the darker side that Hollywood is quick to gloss over. Reading about exploits such as these are better than experiencing losing $30,000 in one...

The US treasury department have recently extended the date for compliance to its new anti-internet gambling regulations. There have been many debates that promote both sides of the story. Yet there are also many reasons as to why gambling should never be banned. This will effectively hurt one of the biggest pastimes in the world and ultimately lead to the loss of jobs for many who rely on the promotion/administration of gambling as a means of income. Banning is hoping to also cut down on the amount of people who are being cheated and swindled on a daily basis – the issue with this is that banning such a lucrative form of money making due to cheating will simply cause it to pop up in an illegal guise.  The bill also wishes to turn illegal internet gambling into a class-c felony. That is a ridiculous notion in of itself, as making gambling illegal is a waste of time – much like it was to ban alcohol in the early years of the 20th century. Finally, how will the millions of stressed players around the world release their daily stress without their favourite hobby? This particular US...

1. Gamble with points Who is the better gambler someone who gambles and wins 100 during a 60 minute casino session, or the someone who banks a small 5 gambling profit? Well, in reality it’s a trick question, because what’s really important is how many ‘points’ you win or lose when gambling. Simply put, if you’re gambling with level stakes, then it becomes easy to calculate how many points profit/loss you’re making. For example, you may gamble with a level stake of 1.00, meaning that sum becomes worth 1 point. At the end of your sessions, you’ll be able to work out how man points up or down your are. In the long-term, your points power is what is likely to define your gambling prowess, not the actual value of your wins and losses. 2. Compound your stakes Any intermediate or serious gambler will want to approach their gambling exploits with a compound betting strategy. Compounding your bets in the casino or sportsbook simply means betting with a specific percentage of your bank meaning as your bank experiences growth, so too do your stakes and potentially...

If you took the revenue away from casinos that they get from slot players, the casinos would be considerably less profitable. Regular slots, progressive slots and video poker machines are the bread and butter of the casino industry. This is true in both land and Internet casinos. In a live casino look at the floor space the casinos allocate to the slots on their casino floors. Online you see a huge variety of slots and video poker games. Very smart marketing people run casinos. There is no way they would offer all of the slots that they do, if the slots were not as popular with players. This one aspect of casinos has been in place since Las Vegas was just a dusty desert town. The only change has been the increase in the slot games and the number of people who are willing to play them. When you add the huge progressive slot jackpots to the mix, you have a situation that is conducive to more play and more slot players. This was a manufactured popularity initially to the casino market. Now, it has become an ever-increasing part of the casino ambience and a bottom line provider. Slot players...
